PRP Hair Treatment

PRP is fantastic at combating the effects of hair loss, whether you’re looking to supplement your hair transplant with additional treatments or are hesitant about more invasive hair transplant methods. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a non-surgical hair regrowth treatment that is most effective for treating thinning hair and slowing or stopping the progression of hair loss. The PRP hair treatment procedure is quick and produces visible, natural-looking results. The treatment is becoming increasingly popular as a natural alternative to other popular hair restoration treatments.

How does PRP treatment work?

PRP therapy stimulates a healing response by using your own platelets from your blood. Blood is drawn from the patient (usually from the arm) and spun in a machine known as a centrifuge. The machine divides the blood into segments. The PRP section contains special cells called Platelets, which can cause hair follicle growth by stimulating stem cells and other cells in the hair follicle’s microenvironment. These special platelet cells promote healing by increasing the rate and degree of tissue healing and regeneration, as well as improving injury response and the formation of new cellular growth. This PRP is then reinjected into the treatment area.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does PRP work?

During the procedure, blood is drawn from the patient and processed in a machine before being injected back into the areas of hair loss on the scalp. The machine extracts platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from red blood cells, which is thought to stimulate the growth of new stem cells.

Is it Painful?

Throughout the treatment, small needles will be used, and you will be given local anaesthetic or numbing cream. You may feel some pressure during the treatment, but nothing too severe! You may feel sore for 1-2 days after the treatment.

What are the results of PRP treatment?

PRP treatment results typically take 3 to 3.5 months to fully manifest. Furthermore, success rates are affected by the number of treatments you receive. Because the effects are cumulative, the more treatments you have, the better the results you will see.

Who Can Benefit from PRP Hair Loss Treatment?

PRP hair restoration has helped people who are suffering from:

  • Male or female pattern baldness in its early stages (androgenic alopecia)
  • Hair loss on the scalp or along the hairline, particularly near the temples
  • Hair thinning or loss caused by metabolism
  • Hairs in the brows or beard that are fine or thinning

How long does the PRP procedure take?

We usually recommend that patients allow two hours for their treatment, which includes preparation and recovery time

How long do PRP hair loss treatment results last?

The effects typically last 6 to 12 months, but this varies from person to person. It takes approximately 3 months to see optimal results and determine whether additional sessions are required to achieve your desired outcome.
